Frederick was the youngest child of Henry George and Mary Elizabeth Avis. He was educated at the National School then employed by Mr Hodge, solicitor, Bromley, for 2 years and afterwards for the Walls United Dairy Co., King Street, Smithfield for over 2 years as a shorthand typist. He was an active member of the Baptist church teaching in the Primary Sunday School and a member of the Look-Out Committee.
He joined up in October 1917, and after training at Winchester was sent to the Front on 29th March 1918 where he died three weeks later from a gunshot to the head.
