Extra details

Charles was the adopted son of Richard and Elizabeth Ann Everett. They had ten children of their own and also adopted a daughter 13 years after adopting Charles. Charles is recorded on the 1901 census as Charles Smithers yet no birth in Bromley under that name can be found.

The only other reference to him is in the newspaper as being a former Patrol Leader of the 3rd Troop Boy Scouts and enlisting in the Army Service Corps.
