Alfred was the 4th of the seven children of William and Marion Anderson. He was baptised on 21st June 1891 at St Luke's Church. He attended Raglan Road School.
On 19th August 1907 he enlisted in the Royal Irish Fusiliers but is with the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment in 1911, in India & Ceylon. He appears on the Bromley Absent Voters Register in 1918 as being in Egypt with the R I F. He was discharged from the army on 16th March 1919, and awarded the Silver Badge on 13th September that year.
Alfred was buried, in a public grave, in St Luke's Cemetery on 21st September 1921.
His brother Thomas William and cousins William John & George Anderson also died.
