William was the eldest of Thomas and Jane Beecher's six children. He lived and worked, as a farm labourer, in East Peckham nearly all his life.
In 1901 his sister Frances was working as a cook in the household of W. Comyns (retired silversmith) of Buchanan, Widmore Road where William's future wife May Frances Richards was employed as a servant. William and May were married in Bromley in 1916.
William joined the Worcestershire Regiment, he died from wounds on 27th March 1918. His brother-in-law, George Frederick Richards also died.
