George was the second youngest of Edmund and Mercy's seven children. He was baptised on 25th June 1876 at Holy Trinity, Bromley Common.
He married Marian Ada Humphrey on 5th June 1901 and they had four children. He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows.
George was a gardener, like his father, before joining the Royal West Kents on 9th January 1915. He was 5ft 3 inches tall. He was sent to France on 30th August 1915 and was killed on the first day of the Battle of Loos.
His younger sister Mary (May) married William Beecher who also died.
