Born in March 1895 Ernest was the fourth of John and Mary Fairweather's five children. He attended Wharton Road School prior to taking employment as a picture frame and cabinet maker at Messrs Collings Bros in the High Street. He was a member of Bromley Gymnastics Club.
Ernest joined the City of London R.A.M.C. (T.F.) in September 1914, being sent out to the Front in February 1916. He was killed by a high explosive shell while resting in a quarry.
