William was the youngest of William and Lucy Collins' six children.
William enlisted on 31st August 1914, serving at home until 28th September 1915. On enlistment he was described as being 5ft 7ins tall, weighing 120lbs, with dark complexion, blue eyes and dark brown hair. On 29th September he was posted to the Indian Expeditionary force, being attached to the Dublin Fusiliers in Salonika on 15th October. William was reported missing on 8th December 1915, presumed dead.
