Benjamin was the eldest son, and second child, of George and Ellen Burbridge. He was baptised on 7th February 1889. He attended Wharton Road School, afterwards taking employment as a nurseryman/gardener. He was in St John's Church choir.
Benjamin enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers on 22nd September 1914. He married Ethel Mason on 23rd May 1915 shortly before going to the Front where he died at the Battle of Loos.
Benjamin's cousin Edward Burbridge also died.
