Stanley was born in 1893 the 12th child of Alfred and Martha Brown, of 6 Freelands Grove. He attended Wharton Road School. In 1911 he was a gunner in the Royal Field Artillery and was in the first British Expeditionary Force. He died of wounds from a shell on 13th August 1915.
His brother-in-law E C Brigden also died.
