Sidney was the 6th of the 9 children of Tom and Ellen Alder.
He enlisted in the London Regiment on 14th June 1915 and served in France, Egypt and Italy.
Having contracted pneumonia during his service his health never recovered and he was discharged on 20th June 1919. A further bout of pneumonia resulted in his death on 13th February 1922. He was buried on 17th at Plaistow Cemetery.
He is not listed on CWGC.
