Frederick George (known as George) was the second of Frederick and Mary Ann Bird's five children. He was baptised at St Luke's Church on 13th March 1898. He attended Raglan Road School and had connections to Bromley Baptist Church.
Prior to joining the Royal West Kents in February 1915 George was an engine cleaner. On 15th April 1916 he went with the British Expeditionary Force to France. In an attack on Long Trench near Monchy on 17th July 1917 George was injured and died the same day.
