Extra details

William was the eldest of Ernest Stidolph and Ellen Muncey's nine children. He attended the Bromley National School before becoming a postman, attached to the head office in Bromley. In 1913 he married Clara Ada Whittington, they had one daughter.

He joined the Royal Sussex Regiment early in 1916 and was only at the Front for three weeks before he was killed.

William's brother Herbert Henry, cousin Harry and uncle Henry James also died.
