Adrian was the third of Thomas and Florence Hubbard's four children. He was baptised at St Luke's church on 27th November 1892. He was educated at Dulwich College from 1904 to 1909, a member of the Engineering Fifth. From the College he went on to work in the city of London for a firm of stockbrokers.

The day after the declaration of war Adrian enlisted in the Queen's Westminster Rifles, and subsequently went over to France with the 1st Battalion of his unit that October. He was invalided back to England the following January having contracted a poisoned foot, and that March took up a commission in the The Buffs. In August he returned to the front with his new regiment and volunteered to serve as Bombing Officer for his battalion. He was wounded in January 1916, near Poperinghe, but by the time of the Somme Offensive that July was back on the front line. He was seriously wounded once again near Combles on August 20th and passed away as a result of his injuries ten days later while still at a dressing station.
