Charles was the third of Henry and Clara Gallon's ten children. By 1901 the family had moved back to Bromley having spent the first few years of married life in Camberwell. Charles attended Aylesbury Road School before following in his father's trade as an apprentice printer with W P Griffith and Sons, King's printers, Prujean Square, Old Bailey. In 1912 the Gallon family moved to Catford.
Charles joined the London Regiment in Lewisham and was killed by a piece of shell on 11th December 1916.
