Extra details
Ernest was the sixth of John and Hannah Eggleton's seven children. He was baptised at St Mary's church, Shortlands. After attending Valley School he became a gardener then changed to the printing trade.
He joined up just after the outbreak of war and was sent to France in the Spring of 1915. Ernest was never wounded but had pneumonia several times. He was home on leave in September 1918 but soon after re-joining his battery he went into hospital with influenza and died of pneumonia on 20th November.
