Extra details

Ernest was the fifth of George Edwards' eight children by his first wife Mary Ann. Mary Ann died in 1887 and George married Charlotte Cox (nee Morrish) in 1898, they had two children. In 1901 Ernest married Mary Martha Marshall. Ernest was a keen sportsman and was a scorer for the Early Closers Cricket Club. He was secretary to the Sundridge Park Working Man's Club.

At the time of his enlistment in the Royal West Kents he was employed at Howard's Stores Ltd, grocers and provision merchants on the High Street.

Ernest had only been at the Front two months when he was killed.
