Hector, born in Brighton on 30th December 1899, was the second of Samuel and Edith Marion Hooper’s four children. His trade before the war was a carpenter & joiner.

Hector enlisted in the Royal Navy on 10th January 1918. He was 5ft 6˝ins tall; had light brown hair, blue grey eyes and a fresh complexion. He was based at HMS President II, a shore ship, until he transferred to the Royal Air Force on 1st April 1918 where he trained as an Air Mechanic. He was transferred to the Reserve on 26th February 1920 and died on 28th April.
